Itani is a Lebanese source for handcrafted Middle Eastern percussion. Every darbouka and riq we carry is chosen by hand, piece by piece, for its tone and its craftsmanship.
Instruments made to be played
Mother-of-pearl inlay, mosaic work, hand-set tiling: the decoration on our drums is not a sticker or a print. It is laid into the shell by craftspeople who have done this work for decades. But these are not display pieces. Each instrument is built to be tuned, struck, and played for years.

Choosing your first darbouka
If you are new to the instrument, start with fit rather than finish. A drum should sit comfortably on your leg or under your arm, and the head should ring clearly when you strike the edge. Tell us how you plan to play and we will point you to the right size.
